There is a town in New Zealand that is desperate for people to move in. How small? A population of only around 800. That small.

It is the small town of Kaitangata, found in a south island in New Zealand.

According to a report by The Telegraph, there are currently more than a thousand job openings here, but no people to take them. These include jobs at cheese, milk, and sawmill factories that are “real good paying jobs” according to the town’s mayor, Bryan Cadogen.

“This is an old-fashioned community, we don’t lock our houses, we let kids run free,” a Kaitangata farmer shares to The Telegraph. “We have jobs, we have houses, but we don’t have people. We want to make this town vibrant again, we are waiting with open arms.” Quality of life is so good here, that youth unemployment is only two. Nope, not 2%, but two. Two youths. How great is that??

The town has launched a recruitment drive to attract new residents. So the question is…where do we sign up???

What do you think? If given a chance, would you move to Kaitangata?
