For gay boys (and men) in the late ’90s and early ’00s, there weren’t that many role models in Philippine media. If there were, they were usually relegated to the side or served as comic relief. That’s why many members of the gay community identified with the show Will and Grace, which treated its gay characters with respect. They were the lead, too!
Ten years after the show ended, the four main stars reunited, and it was documented on social media. Stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally got together, and it brought on a serious case of nostalgia for fans.

Will and Grace aired from 1998 to 2006, and followed Will Truman (McCormack), a masculine lawyer living with his interior designer best friend Grace Adler (Messing). Together, they navigated life in New York and examined their career, friendships, and relationships. They are accompanied by Jack McFarland (Hayes), a flamboyant gay man who constantly changes partners and jobs, and Karen Walker, a multi-millionaire socialite who does secretarial work for Adler.
The show has been critically acclaimed, winning 16 of the 83 Emmy nominations it has received. Will and Grace is one of three sitcoms where all leads received an Emmy Award. The show’s cultural impact is also undeniable, with then US Vice President Joe Biden saying that the show “probably did more to educate the American public” on LGBT issues “than almost anything anybody has ever done so far.”
