Apparently, fashion designer Veejay Floresca was not allowed to enter a posh night club in Bonifacio Global City this Saturday June 20, due to its “no crossdresser” policy, as shared by famous transgender supermodel Geena Rocero, who took to her Facebook page, expressing her outrage at what happened to Veejay:
According to Geena’s post, despite the fact that Veejay showed the club her California ID, indicating that she was female, the club still turned her away, saying “lalaki pa din yan” (that’s still a man).
By definition, transgender is “[denoting to or relating to] a person whose self-identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender.”
Veejay, who went to the BGC club to attend a birthday party, also commented on the matter by posting on her own Facebook page as well:
Based on Geena’s and Veejay’s posts on Facebook, it seems that there will be a meeting with the club management regarding the “no crossdressers” policy being enforced on transgender people.
