I grew up with all girls at home. Although, I consider myself as ‘one of the boys,’ I still don’t know what kind of gift, men would likely to appreciate. Some of them prefer expensive ones while others are content with just a simple dinner date. Conversely, now that I have 3 boys (and a girl) I’m slowly learning what kind of gifts men would really want to receive on special occasions.
So they can dance like this after receiving?
Anyway, special occasions such as Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, are often stressful, as we couldn’t think of anything creative to give aside from the usual ties, hankies, and belts! So, I asked friends and researched what kind of gifts men really want to receive aside from the typical ones!
Are you ready? Grab a pen and a paper and start writing these creative gift ideas down!
8. Swiss Army Knife
Two of my friends, who work as a Chef overseas, revealed that they have been wishing to receive Swiss Army Knife as a gift. Basically, men are “builders” by nature, thus, a Swiss Army Knife would be a great deal for their “handy manny” tasks.
The Swiss Army Knife, depending on the model, has different functionalities like a very sharp blade, screwdriver, can opener, and grips. This multi-tool pocket knife was first produced in 1891 by Victorinox.
7. Shoes
It could be sneakers, leather, espadrilles, and a lot more. Apparently, men are also obsessed in collecting their favorite pair of shoes. In fact, celebrities and musical icons, Eminem, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, particularly, Pharrell, are sneakerheads and love receiving shoes instead.
Pharrell has his own line of Ice Cream sneakers inspired by his BBC movement.
However, there’s a hilarious Filipino superstition, that if you give your partner a pair of shoes, “he will use them to walk away from you.” To prevent that from happening, the receiver must give a coin, so it would look like the receiver bought it from you. No comment.
6. Clothes
If your partner is a debonair or fashionista, might as well, give something that will compliment his looks – an article of clothing from his favorite brand!
Tom Cruise is one of the male Hollywood celebrities who has a unique and smooth fashion style. According to his ex-wife Katie Holmes, although, he has a designer, he loves receiving clothes that were bought from an ordinary store.
5. Watch
Apparently, men value the art of timekeeping. And, surprisingly, among the 20 male friends who answered my survey, 8 of them answered “watch” as their preferred gift, regardless of the occasion.
The famous singer and brilliant songwriter, Seal, loves to collect luxury watches. He either buys it or gifts from friends and ex-wife Heidi Klum.
4. Camera or Lenses
A brand new or second-hand camera or lenses might be a good idea for your partner, who loves photography. Or even if he isn’t a professional but a hobbyist, I’m sure he’d love the gesture of having one. As we all know, this is an expensive gift, so just give when your budget permits.
3. Gadgets or mobile phones
Who doesn’t want to receive a brand new mobile phone or a PS4? Most of the answers to my survey are the following: PS4, Flatscreen TV, hoverboard, and smartphones.
Truthfully, men are gadget junkies! If you’re planning to give a flat screen TV, LG just recently unveiled their newest TV series. OLED TVs stands as slim as three credit cards thin, and with its near bezel-less display edges, something like your men would surely want to receive! Furthermore, Hoverboards and smartphones dominated the survey, too!
2. Vacation/Staycation or Quiet Time
Everyone needs a break from the paper chase. Men are designed to be the “worker” and provider of the house, hence, they carry a lot of burdens and often don’t tell us. Plan a vacation tour or a simple staycation at your favorite hotel!

1. A Surprise Ride!
Most men love cars, but since it’s not always easy to just get up and buy one, why not RENT one for a special night out? (DRIVER included!) Royal Carriages has a wide selection of vintage rides that your man will surely appreciate! From the classic Jaguar to this cool Benz limousine!
In Psychology, gift-giving is the critical form of human interaction – to help build camaraderie, relationships, and strong family ties. It has been proven that it is always the giver, who feels and receives the best feeling in the world: the satisfaction of buying and seeing his (or her) expression. Just like the old saying goes, “it is better to give than to receive.”
Ultimately, men are simple by nature, so a gift of love and kindness is enough to give on special occasions or every day!
How about you, do you have any other gift ideas we can add to this list?
